The Thrill of Two Wheels: Exploring Krabi on a Scooter

Krabi combines quiet scenic roads, outdoor markets, and remarkable temples — but the province is large and holiday time is limited. We wanted to share our favourite places to visit and how we reach them on two wheels.
Grab makes taxis easy, but tapping an app skips the part we love: finding your own way, choosing a fork in the road, and discovering what is around the next bend. That is why we explore on a motorbike or scooter — the road less travelled is often the most intriguing.
These stops are not always the closest to Ao Nang; many take 45 minutes or more each way. If you want an affordable, unplanned adventure on two wheels — without the sensational build-up — this is our honest list. We live here, we ride here, and these are the days that stay with us. Have fun, ride safely, and remember: getting lost is often the start of a new adventure.
Tha Pom Klong Song Nam: Nature's hidden gem

Our journey often starts at Tha Pom Klong Song Nam, where the water looks almost unreal. Paths wind beneath tall mangroves; time slows. When you are ready to move on, the open road north calls — freshwater meeting the sea behind you, the day still ahead.
Khao Thong Hill: Dining with a view
From Tha Pom, we head onward along quieter stretches of Route 4 and scenery toward Phang Nga Bay — landscapes that feel layered with history. Climbing toward Khao Thong Hill, glimpses of the coast open between the trees.
At the top, lunch matches the view: spicy grilled prawns, som tam, and a pause where the coastline spreads below. It is a good reset before the next leg toward the temples.
Wat Bang Riang: A peaceful retreat

The ride to Wat Bang Riang threads through green fields — waves from locals are part of the day. The temple complex appears against the sky; art, prayer, and quiet ground you before the next stretch of road.
Wat Bang Thong: A gateway to Thai spirituality

Further inland, Wat Bang Thong’s golden chedi rises above the treeline — a stop worth both camera and calm. Reliefs and statues tell old stories; the air feels still. Breathe, look, then roll on toward the coast.
Laem Chamuk Khwai: Where land meets sea
The last leg follows smaller roads toward Laem Chamuk Khwai. Waves set the rhythm as you drop toward the beach — land and sea meeting in a wide, quiet arc. Grilled chicken and sticky rice from a roadside vendor on the sand is a simple finish.
As the sun lowers, Krabi turns amber. A day on two wheels is not only a list of pins on a map — it is linked moments, each road tying the last stop to the next. That is the timeless appeal of wandering here.
