Krabi Moto Rentals — Damage Protection Coverage Policy

Krabi Moto Rentals offers optional Damage Protection Coverage to help protect customers from potentially large repair costs if their rented motorcycle or scooter is accidentally damaged during the rental period. It is available for an additional daily fee and significantly limits the amount you may be required to pay for covered accidental damage to the rented vehicle.
Please read this policy carefully. Damage Protection is optional, has a per-incident deductible, and does not replace travel insurance, medical cover, or third-party liability insurance.
The daily cost of Damage Protection Coverage depends on the category of motorcycle being rented. The applicable motorcycle category is identified by Krabi Moto Rentals at the time of booking or when the rental agreement is completed.

Damage Protection must be purchased for the entire rental period and cannot normally be added after the rental has already begun.
When Damage Protection Coverage has been purchased, the customer's financial responsibility for covered accidental damage to the rented motorcycle is limited to a maximum deductible of ฿1,500 per covered incident, subject to the terms and exclusions in this policy.
This protection is particularly valuable in the event of a serious accident. For example, if a motorcycle suffers ฿25,000, ฿50,000 or more in covered accidental damage, a customer who has purchased Damage Protection would normally be responsible for only the ฿1,500 deductible, rather than the full cost of repairing the motorcycle.
Without Damage Protection Coverage, the customer may be responsible for the full cost of repairing damage caused during the rental period, in accordance with the standard Krabi Moto Rentals rental agreement.

Damage Protection Coverage includes a ฿1,500 deductible for each covered accident or incident. This means the cover is primarily intended to protect customers against significant or expensive damage rather than eliminate responsibility for minor damage.
The deductible applies separately to each unrelated accident or damage event during the rental period. If a motorcycle is damaged in one accident and later involved in a completely separate accident, each event may be treated as a separate incident and a separate deductible may apply.
Subject to the conditions of this policy, Damage Protection Coverage generally applies to accidental physical damage to the rented motorcycle resulting from incidents such as:
Coverage applies only to the motorcycle rented from Krabi Moto Rentals and only during the agreed rental period.
Motorcycle repairs can become expensive very quickly. Even what appears to be a relatively straightforward accident can damage multiple components — body panels, lights, handlebars, suspension, wheels, exhaust, electronics or engine-related parts.
Without Damage Protection, the renter may be financially responsible for these repair costs. By purchasing Damage Protection Coverage, the renter exchanges this potentially large financial risk for a predictable daily fee and a maximum deductible of ฿1,500 for covered accidental damage.
Damage Protection Coverage is designed to protect responsible customers against genuine accidents. It does not remove the customer's responsibility to operate and care for the motorcycle safely.
Damage Protection may be refused or invalidated where damage results from prohibited, unlawful, reckless or abusive use of the motorcycle.
Unless specifically agreed otherwise in writing by Krabi Moto Rentals, Damage Protection does not cover damage or losses resulting from:
In these circumstances, the ฿1,500 liability limitation may not apply and the renter may be responsible for the full amount of the resulting loss or damage.
Damage Protection Coverage relates specifically to physical damage to the motorcycle rented from Krabi Moto Rentals. It is not personal accident insurance, medical insurance or general third-party liability insurance.
Unless separately covered by another applicable insurance policy, Damage Protection does not provide compensation for:

Unless specifically confirmed otherwise in writing by Krabi Moto Rentals, Damage Protection Coverage applies to accidental physical damage and does not automatically cover theft or disappearance of the motorcycle.
It also does not automatically cover loss of accessories or items supplied with the motorcycle, including:
Charges for lost or missing equipment may therefore be payable separately from the ฿1,500 damage deductible.
Customers must notify Krabi Moto Rentals as soon as reasonably possible after an accident or significant damage occurs. The customer should:
Failure to report an accident or deliberately concealing damage may result in the Damage Protection Coverage being invalidated.
Customers will not be charged for damage that was already present on the motorcycle before the rental began.
Krabi Moto Rentals may photograph, video or otherwise document the condition of the motorcycle before the vehicle is released to the customer.
Customers are encouraged to inspect the motorcycle when receiving it and to notify Krabi Moto Rentals of any existing damage they believe has not already been recorded.
The motorcycle may be inspected when it is returned. If new damage is discovered, Krabi Moto Rentals may compare the motorcycle's condition with photographs, videos or inspection records created before the rental.
Where the damage is considered a covered incident under the Damage Protection policy, the renter's liability will be subject to the applicable ฿1,500 deductible.
The ฿1,500 deductible applies per incident, not necessarily per rental.
Damage occurring during the same accident will normally be considered one incident. Damage resulting from separate events may be treated as separate incidents.
For example, if a customer drops the motorcycle on Monday and then has a separate collision on Thursday, Krabi Moto Rentals may consider these to be two separate covered incidents, each subject to the applicable deductible.
Damage Protection Coverage begins when the customer takes possession of the motorcycle at the beginning of the agreed rental period and ends when the motorcycle is returned to and accepted by Krabi Moto Rentals.
If the rental is extended, Damage Protection must also be extended and the applicable additional daily Damage Protection fee must be paid.
Damage Protection Coverage is optional unless otherwise stated as part of a particular rental package. A customer may choose to rent a motorcycle without purchasing Damage Protection.
Customers declining Damage Protection should understand that they may be responsible for the full repair cost of damage occurring during their rental, in accordance with the rental agreement.
A customer accidentally drops a scooter and damages several body panels. The customer purchased Damage Protection. The accident qualifies as a covered incident. The customer is responsible for the applicable ฿1,500 deductible.
A customer is involved in an accident that causes ฿40,000 worth of damage to the motorcycle. The customer purchased Damage Protection and complied with the terms of the rental agreement. Instead of being responsible for the ฿40,000 repair cost, the customer's liability for the covered motorcycle damage is limited to the ฿1,500 deductible.
A motorcycle suffers ฿30,000 in repairable accidental damage. The customer declined Damage Protection. The customer may be responsible for the full repair cost in accordance with the Krabi Moto Rentals rental agreement.
A customer damages a motorcycle while participating in a race, while allowing an unauthorized rider to use the motorcycle, or while riding under the influence of alcohol. Because the rental conditions and Damage Protection terms have been violated, the ฿1,500 liability limitation may not apply and the customer may be responsible for the full amount of the loss or damage.
Damage Protection Coverage gives Krabi Moto Rentals customers additional financial protection and peace of mind while renting one of our motorcycles.
The purpose of Damage Protection is not necessarily to eliminate every small damage charge. Its primary purpose is to protect the customer from the potentially significant financial consequences of a serious motorcycle accident.
By purchasing Damage Protection Coverage, the customer acknowledges and agrees to the terms, limitations, deductible and exclusions described on this page.
