Every motorcycle rented from Krabi Moto Rentals includes Thailand's compulsory Por Ror Bor insurance as part of your rental. This provides basic medical coverage for people injured in a road accident. We strongly recommend that all visitors also have their own travel and medical insurance before riding in Thailand.

When renting a motorcycle in Thailand, it's important to understand exactly what insurance is included with your rental and, just as importantly, what it does and does not cover. At Krabi Moto Rentals, we believe in being completely transparent so you can make informed decisions before beginning your journey.
Every motorcycle in our fleet includes Por Ror Bor (Compulsory Motor Insurance), which is required by Thai law for all registered motorcycles. This insurance exists primarily to provide basic financial assistance for people who are injured in a road traffic accident. It is an important layer of protection, but it should not be confused with comprehensive motorcycle insurance.
Por Ror Bor is included on every rental and is designed to assist with medical expenses when people are injured in a road accident. However, this protection is intended for lawful riders. You must hold a valid motorcycle licence from your home country, together with an International Driving Permit where required, for this insurance to work as intended and for your own travel insurance to remain valid.
Riding without the correct licence may affect accident claims, Por Ror Bor benefits, and any coverage under your personal travel insurance policy.

Por Ror Bor is Thailand's compulsory motor insurance scheme established under the Motor Vehicle Accident Victims Protection Act. Every legally registered motorcycle on Thai roads must carry this insurance.
The purpose of Por Ror Bor is to provide financial assistance for medical treatment and compensation relating to injuries or death resulting from a road traffic accident. Initial medical expenses are available regardless of who caused the accident, while additional benefits may be available depending on the official findings of the authorities.
The Por Ror Bor insurance included with every rental is designed to assist with medical-related expenses and certain statutory compensation following a road accident, subject to the policy terms and applicable Thai law.
Because insurance regulations and benefit limits can change, any claim is always assessed according to the current policy terms and applicable Thai law at the time of the accident.
One of the biggest misunderstandings visitors have is believing that compulsory insurance covers damage to the motorcycle itself. It does not.

If an accident occurs involving another road user, the attending police officers will investigate the circumstances and determine responsibility in accordance with Thai law.
As with most countries, the person found responsible for causing the accident may also be responsible for the resulting losses or damages.
It's important to remember that not every vehicle on Thai roads carries comprehensive voluntary insurance. While every registered motorcycle should have compulsory Por Ror Bor insurance, many vehicles do not carry additional insurance that covers vehicle damage or wider third-party liability. For this reason, riders should never assume another person's insurance will pay for every expense arising from an accident.

If the rental motorcycle is damaged during your rental period, the renter is responsible for the reasonable cost of repairs.
At Krabi Moto Rentals, we believe in being fair and transparent. We do not apply excessive repair charges or inflated repair bills. Our customers are charged for the actual replacement parts required together with a modest labour charge, which is typically between 500 and 1,000 THB, depending on the repair.
Before every rental begins, our staff carefully photograph the motorcycle from multiple angles while you are present. This creates a clear record of the motorcycle's condition before it leaves our office. When the motorcycle is returned, we compare its condition against these photographs so there is complete transparency for both parties.
