Explore Krabi
Krabi province is famous for its stunning limestone islands scattered across the Andaman Sea. While motorcycle rental Krabi is one of the most popular ways to explore the mainland beaches and viewpoints, reaching most of these islands requires a different approach. You cannot simply ride a motorbike from the mainland onto the majority of them. Instead, take a ferry or longtail boat, then decide whether to rent a bike on arrival or explore on foot.
Koh Lanta stands out as one of the easiest islands for riders. Ferries from Krabi Town or mainland piers allow you to bring a rented motorcycle across, or you can arrange motorcycle rental once you arrive. The island’s long coastal roads and quieter beaches make it ideal for independent exploration by scooter.
Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai also support motorcycle access. These twin islands in Phang Nga Bay (often visited from Krabi) have ferry connections that accommodate bikes. Many visitors use motorcycle rental services available on both islands to reach quiet beaches, villages, and viewpoints at their own pace.
The remaining islands are different. Koh Phi Phi is accessible only by speedboat or ferry from Krabi or Ao Nang. No vehicles of any kind operate on the main island of Phi Phi Don beyond limited service roads. Visitors walk everywhere, and motorcycle rental is neither practical nor available for tourists.
Koh Hong and Koh Poda are small day-trip destinations reached exclusively by longtail or speedboat tours from Ao Nang or Noppharat Thara. Both islands have no roads and no motorcycle rental options. You land, walk the beaches, swim, and return by boat the same day.
In short, motorcycle rental Krabi works best for mainland adventures and for the larger islands of Koh Lanta, Koh Yao Noi, and Koh Yao Yai. For Phi Phi, Hong, and Poda, leave the bike behind, take a boat, and enjoy the islands on foot. This mix of road and sea access is what makes exploring Krabi’s islands so memorable.
